Italy Travel

Italy, located in southern Europe, is one of the most favored destinations for tourists from all over the world. It is also popularly called "the boot" due to its geographical shape. 


There is no dearth of places tourists can travel to in this small country, which has a rich cultural heritage. Apart from the great cities of Rome, Milan and Venice, tourists often travel to the majestic Alps in the northern part of the country. One of the most famous spots in Italy is the Bay of Naples.

San Marino and Vatican City are located within Italian territory, but both are independent countries. So if you are traveling to Italy, it is always possible to visit three countries. Though Italian is the official language of Italy, English is used extensively and travel-related instructions are available in English at most of the tourist centers, hotels, airports and railway stations.

Italian culture is so diversified that every region in the country has a different culture. So if you are planning to travel to Italy and would like to know the country well, you need to plan a long vacation. You can travel by sea, road or air within Italy. The transport facilities are excellent.

While traveling to Italy, you should have enough seasonally appropriate clothing. Also, there are certain churches which strictly enforce a dress code for anyone who wants to enter the church. Also beware of pickpockets and purse-snatchers. It always better to wear a concealed money belt, especially as a tourist.

The hotels in Italy often charge high prices for overseas and international telephone calls. One should use public telephone booths, where such facilities are offered at much lower rates.
